Ainsley Melham
2026 Gala Honoree
AINSLEY MELHAM made his Australian mainstage debut in the title role of Disney’s Aladdin The Musical. His performance earned him a Helpmann Award nomination, led to his Broadway debut in 2019, and saw him film the production at the Prince Edward Theatre in London for theatrical release. He began his career as a member of the children’s pop group Hi-5, appearing on Disney Jnr and Netflix in its Hi-5 House series, before skating into the role of Sonny Malone for Mathew Management’s production of Xanadu. In Australia he has had the great pleasure of playing Molina in Melbourne Theatre Company’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, Pippin in the Tony Award-winning production at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, Charley Kringas in Merrily We Roll Along, Prince Topher in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Felix in The Normal Heart, the Lost Boy in Watershed, and Fiyero in Wicked. Most recently, Ainsley reprised his run in Aladdin on Broadway, but not before originating the role of Dwayne in BOOP! The Musical. The world premiere production enjoyed a pre-Broadway run at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago before transferring to Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre to light up New York City. The musical was directed by three-time Tony winner Jerry Mitchell, with a book by Tony winner Bob Martin, music by sixteen-time Grammy winner David Foster, and lyrics by Tony nominee Susan Birkenhead. Ainsley is a proud graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. @ainsleymelham
